A Family Weekend (a three day activity package for all ages)
Jackson is a hub for unique family recreation opportunities. Your days will be full of fun instead of more driving!
When school is out, Story land is in!! And Jackson is the perfect place from which to launch your visit to New Hampshire’s most visited attraction, Story land. This family owned amusement park, only two miles from the village has been a favorite with children (and subsequently their own children) for decades. Rain or shine the activities continue and nothing less than a full day will suffice. Take advantage of a favorite bonus offer--on your drive to your Jackson inn buy park tickets after 3 P. M. and your eager, excited children can have several hours on your first day in town and all the next day for a one day price!
Plan at least one picnic feast by packing some food from a local deli and heading for an outdoor adventure at the Jackson Falls on Carter Notch Road –the locals’ answer to a warm day in the valley. Endless rock hopping and dipping in the refreshing pools and falls of the Wildcat River appeal to all ages!
Another unique experience for older children is the alpine slide, a gravity driven in-track sled invented by a local engineer. This and other attractions such as a water slide and horseback riding are available at Attitash Mountain just a few miles from Jackson on Highway #302 in Bartlett.
Jackson has its own pond for young fisherman next to the baseball diamond in the center of the village. Also, the playground near the Jackson Grammar School and Post Office is always a familiar and popular destination for the little children...
In earlier times trains had been vital for bringing visitors to the Mount Washington Valley and railroad enthusiasts have long been attracted to the Hartmann Railroad Museum with its miniature train rides and a complete hobby shop. A visit to this time tested attraction can be combined with a game of miniature golf. Both are on Highway #16 and #302 south of Jackson Village.
Have fun! And don’t be surprised if Jackson Village becomes an annual destination for your family vacations.
